Cookies with Grandma

Eloise & Grandma made homemade cookies last weekend.  They were perfecting their technique and recipe before Christmas Cookie season.

Eloise picked out her outfit that day.  Thankfully the red cowgirl boots and apron match.
 Grandpa supervised the frosting process.

Toddling Thru: Conversations with Eloise

Eloise has a lot to say these days.  Here are some of my favorite sound bites from the past few weeks.

Mommy: Eloise, are you done eating?
Eloise: No. I finishing.

Mommy: Eloise, are you done going potty?
Eloise: No. I finishing.

Mommy steps up on stepstool to grab something.
Eloise: Mommy! Be careful.

Eloise: Guys - stay right here.  I go get my doggie.
Mommy & Daddy: Did she just call us guys? (desperately trying not to laugh).

Daddy: Eloise - give Daddy his cup.
Eloise: No. It's Eloise's.

Eloise: It's snowing! I make a snowman?
Mommy: No honey. There isn't enough snow.
Eloise: Okay, Mommy.
Walks away & comes back to window 2 minutes later.
Eloise: Mommy! It's snowing! Snowman?
Mommy shakes head & laughs.

Eloise: Grandma, sit down! You're in time out.
Mommy & Grandma: Why is Grandma in time out?
Eloise: You not listening.
Cue uncontrollable laughter and guilty face of Mommy.  Someone is my little parrot.

Baby Kalins 2.0

Here we go again...
Baby Kalins 2.0 is due in May 2015 and it's is a Boy!!
As with Eloise, the road to have this baby was hard to say the least.  I'll be the first to say it...all babies are miracles.  Mine definitely are.  Remember the weekly chalkboard posts & photos I did when I was pregnant with Eloise?  Well, to keep things fresh and different for this baby, I decided to still do the weekly posts but to incorporate a different set of questions and some commentary from big sister Eloise.  I'm calling these posts - the Bumpdates.  Get it? Bump + Updates = Bumpdates.

BIG SISTER ELOISE SAYS:
Look who loves the stickers.  Shocker!
Toward the end of 1st trimester, I stumbled across a post on the Chicago Parent facebook page looking for Moms at various stages of pregnancy who would bare the belly as a celebration of pregnancy.  I emailed the editor and before I knew it, I was emailing picture of me & my 10 week belly for a new magazine Hey Baby.  Check out the photos from the magazine and click here to watch a news story done this past weekend.  The best place to find copies of the magazine is at your local public libraries.

Halloween Highlights

Better late than never...here are some of the photo highlights of Eloise's Halloween Fun.

Minnie aka Eloise went Boo at the Zoo with some friends and had a great time riding around in the wagon, seeing all the animals, and pointing all the Elsas at the Zoo.
1...2...3...no one look!
Daddy found the grossest looking pumpkin and we carved it up.  Eloise kept saying, "I got the big one."
All month long, Eloise was so excited to dress up as Tinkerbell (aka Jitterbell) for Halloween.  Her costume was hanging up in our office and she would regularly ask if she could go check on it.  With a joint effort between Mommy & Daddy, we made her Tinkerbell shoes with a little green spray paint and some cotton balls.  At school, Eloise participated in the hospital-wide parade and enjoyed a fun party later on that day.  Tinkerbell was a crowd favorite and got tons of candy!

When Eloise saw that her friend Lauren was dressed as Elsa she ran down the hall to see her.  Lauren was equally impressed with Eloise's costume.  The two of them spent about 5 minutes admiring each other's wings, tiaras, and princess dresses.
Eloise let her friend and fellow fairy Leah join her in our wagon.
