Baby Face Friday: 29 Weeks & Thanksgiving Highlights

Bubbas is as big as Turkey weighing in at 19lbs. Even though he is just cutting his 2 bottom front teeth, he'd didn't get to enjoy any turkey.

We kicked off the Thanksgiving celebration on Wednesday night. Preston got some quality cuddle time with his 3 cousins. Everyone wanted their turn to hold Baby Preston.

We started Thanksgiving morning at the Clarks.

After Dinner at Papa Jim's, all the Kalins girls had a try at breaking the wishbone.

Alex was the winner!

Baby Face Friday: 28 Weeks

What's my new favorite thing?  Sitting!

Here's a sneak peek of one of the photos from our Christmas photo shoot I did last weekend...

Every year at daycare, the kids make different art projects with their teachers and submit them to Square1Art where the parents can order different products with their artwork on it.  Check out Eloise's "self portrait" & Preston's butterflies.

Preston is ready for Thanksgiving next week!  As much as he would love to chew on a turkey leg, he will have to settle for some pureed sweet potatoes and apples.

Happy 6 months Preston

Happy 6 months Bubbas!

6 months is such a huge milestone. It's the halfway mark to that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow  that every parent looks forward to - the 1 year mark.  Don't get me wrong - I cherish every moment with our Bubbas but knowing what it's like "on the other side" is reassuring during those difficult moments of baby life.  People tell you not to compare your kids but oh well, I do it.  Brad & I are constantly asking each other,  "When did Eloise do that?"  We almost never agree.  Haha!  If we had to make an overall assessment, we'd say that Preston is right on track with Eloise's development that 1st year but he's desperate to keep up with her.  Just the other night he was getting up on his knees and rocking back & forth.  As cute as it was, I couldn't help but think, "Wait! Stay my baby forever!" I know - I just said I look forward to the end of the baby era.  What can I say?  Mama is a little nuts at times.

Preston's Menu Options
Apples
Pears
Bananas
Peaches
Green Peas
Butternut Squash
Avocados
Sweet Potatoes
Carrots
Green Beans - HATED.

Preston in Action
He is on the move! Backwards scooting & lots of rolling to his desired destination.  It's hilarious to watch him log roll across a room.  He regularly gets himself in weird positions where he is straddled table legs or left with nowhere else roll.  Just recently, he has been able to sit up on his own. He can't get himself to sitting position yet but it's cute when he tries.  Preston isn't aware of his own strength and that's a shame because we are in the Banging & Slapping stage.  He smacks his hands on the table & people.  I've gotten a few whacks to the face or chest when he is nursing.  That will keep you awake for sure!  He has also discovered that even though he loves the jumperoo or exersaucer, that using people as his own personal bouncer is more convenient.  Just because I'm holding you on my lap doesn't mean that we are going to pretend we are on a roller coaster ride!
6 Month Stats
Weight: 18lb 3oz (62%)
Height: 27.17in (72%)
Head: 17.72in (91%)
At this point, I think it's safe to say that Preston is not going to have blue eyes. Jury is still out on whether he will have brown or hazel eyes. Either way, he's a handsome fella!

Ballerina Eloise

Eloise started going to Ballet class just before Preston was born.  A few times a year, the parents get to observe the class.  I had a great time watching our little Ballerina along with her Grandparents last Saturday.  I was impressed with how much she knew and was entertained by her goofy personality throughout the class.

Check out this highlight reel I made of Eloise at Ballerina class.

In case you were wondering where she gets her moves...
She got it from her mama!

Kalins Kids Halloween Fun

We kicked off the Halloween Week celebrations by decorating Eloise's pumpkin.  Papa Kevin had picked up an awesome Minnie decorating kit for her.  She loved painting her big pumpkin pink and then adding all the Minnie parts to finish it off.
Eloise and her classmates worked on some awesome Halloween decorations for the hallway in the school.  Eloise's favorite was the big pumpkin.
Happy Halloween - Take 1
Eloise & Preston dressed up the day before Halloween for their school parade and party.

Preston was digging his monkey costume and was a hit in the parade.

Happy Halloween - Take 2
The Kalins kids all gathered at Uncle Bob & Auntie Dina's house for trick or treating.  The rain finally let up long enough for this crew to head out and get their candy.
Eloise - Strawberry Shortcake; Preston - Monkey; Alex - Vampire; Quinnley - Poodle; Reese - Skunk.
The girls got tons of good candy and saw a lot of great costumes along the route.  Eloise is already talking about going out with them again next year!
